A delegation from the Spur and Sprockets Association, led by the Leader and Patron of the Association – Colonel (Col) BK Ahlijah (Rtd), has called on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah, at the General Headquarters, Burma Camp.
Col Ahlijah (Rtd) stated that the purpose of the visit on Monday, 19 February 2024, was to congratulate the CDS for his appointment and elevation to the rank of Lieutenant General, noting that Lt Gen Oppong-Peprah has made history for being the first ‘Armour Officer’, to be appointed CDS, and promoted to the highest rank in Ghana’s military.

He further registered their happiness and support for the CDS emphasizing that they take pride in his achievements because “Your success is a reflection on us.” He therefore assured the CDS of their prayers, goodwill and God’s grace to enable him succeed.
Lt Gen T Oppong-Peprah, in thanking his guests for the visit, stated that the efforts made by Armour Officers’ forebears of GAF, in grooming Armour Officers to command at the highest levels of the Armed Forces, has become realized.
The CDS further called for the support and advice of all to enable him and all other commanders at various levels, succeed in the execution of the mandate task of the GAF.

Other members of the delegation were the President of the Association, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) AK Adjein (Rtd), Brig Gen DK Frimpong, and Brig Gen CK Richter-Addo (Rtd); Commander 15 Armoured Brigade – Brig Gen Ben Gah; and Commanding Officer, 153 Armoured Regiment – Lt Col David Korsah.
