UK & GHANA TO COLLABORATE IN BORDER SECURITY

The United Kingdom (UK) High Commissioner to Ghana – Her Excellency Harriet Thompson has assured of her country’s commitment to collaborate with the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) in border security.

She made this commitment when she paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of the GAF – Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah at the General Headquarters on Monday, 15 April 2024.

The Ambassador stated that, plans were far advanced to further collaborate with the GAF in areas of training, information operations, defence intelligence and logistics, given the prominent roles the Armed Forces play in border security in the country.

Lt Gen Oppong-Peprah in his remarks, commended the UK for their continuous support to the GAF especially in counter terrorism and border security.

The CDS also emphasized the need to equip personnel with modernised equipment for the aforementioned operations to ensure the safety and security of personnel in particular and the safety of the nation at large.
