An eleven-member high-level delegation from the United Nations Security Council Military Staff Committee, led by Colonel (Col) Bryan Perry Dunn visited the Ghanaian Battalion’s Area of Responsibility (AOR) in Southern Lebanon, to assess the security situation within the Battalion’s AOR, focusing on UN Position 1-0A (UNP 1-0A) and Patrol Base HIN (PB HIN).

At UNP 1-0A on Friday, 28 March 2025, the team was welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Isaac Kobe Boako – Commanding Officer (CO), United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Ghanaian Battalion 91 (GHANBATT 91), and briefed on the current security situation within the AOR.

The delegation conducted a thorough assessment of the damage caused to the Battalion’s vehicles during the Wednesday 23 October 2024 attack on GHANBATT medical convoy in Yarin.

They also inspected roadblocks that hamper operations of the Unit, damages to the Northern Perimeter Fence and Observation Post at PB HIN, and additionally evaluated the proximity of an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) Forward Operating Base (FOB) within the Ghanaian Battalion’s AOR.

Colonel Dunn commended Lt Col Boako for his exemplary leadership, while the CO assured the team of the GHANBATT 91’s commitment to achieving the UNIFIL mandate.

The visit demonstrates the UN’s continued efforts to ensure peace and stability in the Middle East, with the Military Staff Committee playing a crucial role in advising and assisting the Security Council on military matters.
