UNIFIL GHANBATT 91 OBSERVES GHANA’S 68 INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Ghana Battalion (GHANBATT) 91 has held a short but colourful parade to commemorate Ghana’s 68th independence anniversary.

The Anniversary, which was held on Thursday 6 March 2025 at the GHANBATT Headquarters, UNP 5-66, was under the theme “Review, Reflect and Reset”.

The Special Guest for the ceremony, and Ghana’s Honorary Consul in Lebanon – His Excellency (HE) Ali Samir Jaafar, lauded the GHANBATT for their commitment, dedication and sacrifices, to help in the peace process in Lebanon, and their devotion to duty, amidst the security situation within GHANBATT’s Area of Responsibility.

He also commended the Commanding Officer (CO), UNIFIL GHANBATT 91 – Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Kobe Boako for his exemplary leadership, and urged all to stand tall and proud, as they carry the torch of independence, with grace and dignity.

The celebration was climaxed with a cultural display of diverse ethnic groups of Ghana, who are represented in the Battalion.

Present at the event was the Ghanaian Contingent Commander – Colonel Michael Mfum, and Ghanaian Staff Officers from the UNIFIL Headquarters, and Sector West Headquarters.
