The second Ghanaian Battalion (GHANBATT 2) serving with United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) has held an all ranks End of Tour Get Together as part of its End of Tour Activities on Thursday 9 May 2024 at the Battalion Headquarters, Athony Company Operating Base (COB), Abyei.
The Commanding Officer (CO) Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Edward Sarpong Appiah in his opening remarks expressed gratitude to all Key Appointment Holders and personnel of the GHANBATT for their support, dedication, hardwork and accomplishments.

He also extended his appreciation to all and sundry whose assistance in diverse ways contributed to the success story of GHANBATT 2. He also admonished troops not to allow complacency to set in and be vigilant at all times as they prepare to rotate to reunite with their families and loved ones soon.
The Guest of Honour for the occasion, the UNISFA Ghanaian Contingent Commander (CONTICO) Colonel (Col) Michael Mawuena Yaw Edem Adzo in his remarks, commended GHANBATT 2 for distinguishing itself as worthy ambassadors for peace and security and the Ghana Armed Forces during their over one-year deployment with UNISFA.
He also urged all ranks to continue discharging their assigned tasks diligently and professionally in the remaining days of their tour of duty.

The Celebration also featured an award ceremony where deserving personnel were recognized and commended for their hardwork, dedication and exceptional contributions to the success of the Battalion.
The celebration was climaxed with an all ranks dance with beautiful renditions from the Groove Gunners Dance Band.

Present were the Commanding Officer of the Ghana Medical Level II Plus Hospital (GHANMED 2) Colonel Monte Kwaku Nuamah Kutin, Chief of the Plans Branch (U5) UNISFA Force Headquarters UNISFA (FHQ), Wing Commander D Istifamus, and Chief Joint Operations Centre (JOC) UNISFA FHQ, Lt Col Kwame Sam Appiah.
The United Nations Military observers (UNMO) from Athony and Banton Team Sites, Representatives from the Dream Team and Athony Smart Camp Project Team and other invited guests also graced the occasion.
