UNISFA GHANBATT 2 on Saturday 11 November 2023 observed commemoration of the 78th Remembrance Day with a colourful ceremony/parade.
The ceremony was held at the forecourt of the Battalion Headquarters, Athony Company Operating Base. The ceremony was in memory of all men and women in uniform, who died during World Wars I and II, and other conflicts around the world.
As part of the activities to mark the day, there was a solemn wreath laying and flag raising ceremony to commemorate the Remembrance Day.
In attendance were, Commanding Officer GHANBATT 2, Lt Col Edward Sarpong Appiah, Chief Administrator of Abyei, HE AMB Dr. CHOL DENG ALAK, the Commissioner of ALAL County, HON DENG ALI, the Senior Anesthetist, Col A Mumuni, Senior Nursing Officer, Col PAD Awumee both from GHANMED Level 2 Plus Hospital, United Nations Military Observers at Athony Team Site and some Ministers and locals from the Abyei Special Administrative Area.
