The Ghanaian Battalion that served with United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS GH 10) has held a Thanksgiving Service to express gratitude to God for preservation and success at its fourteen months (14 months) tour of duty, in the strife-torn East African nation.
The service was held on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at the Arakan Methodist Presbyterian Church (AMPC), Burma Camp, Accra, at which the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Southern Command (S/COMD) – Major General (Maj Gen) Michael Amoah-Ayisi, who was also the Guest of Honour, sang the praises of the unprecedented achievements of UNMISS GH 10 in Ghanaian UN peacekeeping.

General Amoah-Ayisi was quick in his remarks to call the attention of the returning soldiers, to be wary in expending their hard-earned cash at betting, fraudulent and wild investments, but to commit to professionalism, and living within their means.
The ministering reverend – Reverend Thomas Addo, who was the Chaplain of UNMISS GH 10, enumerated the successes of the team, particularly attributing its triumphs to God’s providence, to the rapturous applause of the congregation, who later on said a word of prayer for continued guidance and success for members of the GHANBATT, who made a cash offering to the church.

Members of the GHANBATT who are also members of the AMPC, also presented an undisclosed cash amount to the church, to help in its ongoing projects, after which the defunct GHANBATT hosted family, friends and AMPC church members, to a refreshment at the Arakan Officers’ Mess, with good music provided by the Pink Five Band.
Present were the outgoing Commanding Officer (CO), 5 Infantry Battalion (5Bn) – Colonel Prince Eric Yaw Tandoh, and Incoming CO, 5Bn – Lieutenant Colonel Kwame Owusu-Afriyie, amongst many.
