UNMISS GH 11 CONDUCTS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS FOR LOCALS IN SOUTH SUDAN

As part of efforts to observe and promote the global breast cancer awareness month, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Ghanaian Battalion (GHANBATT) Level 1 Hospital has organised a breast cancer sensitization and screening exercise for over 80 females at Guit County in Bentiu State of South Sudan.

The exercise on Saturday 21 October 2023, took the form of breast cancer awareness creation through education, self-examination and general screening by the GHANBATT medical staff.

GHANBATT Level 1 Hospital, together with the Female Engagement Team, which was led by Senior Medical Officer (SMO) – Lieutenant Commander Leslie Kojo Tay, and Medical Officer (MO) –Lieutenant (Ghana Navy) Marie Darko, sensitised the female populace on the signs, symptoms, causes and effects of breast cancer.

The exercise was climaxed with breast screening to ascertain the health condition of their breast.
