The United States of America (USA) Ambassador to Ghana – Her Excellency (HE) Virginia Palmer, paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Major General (Maj GEN) William Agyapong, on Thursday, 17 April, 2025, at the General Headquarters.
The visit was to officially to congratulate Maj Gen Agyapong on his appointment as CDS and to discuss avenues for further deepening collaboration between the GAF and the USA.
In her remarks, Ambassador Palmer affirmed the USA’s readiness to continuously support GAF and collaborate in areas of training and logistics.
Maj Gen Agyapong thanked HE Virginia Palmer for the visit and expressed gratitude for the continuous support that the US has provided GAF over the period.
He called for deepened collaborations in areas of capacity building in counter-extremism and counter-terrorism operations, modern naval technical training and airforce logistics maintenance courses, among others.
