The Fifth Edition of the Non-Commissioned Officers’ Manoeuvre Leadership course organised by the 2nd Security Forces Assistance Brigade (2SFAB) of the United States (US) Army for troops of Ghana Army’s (GA) Northern Command (N/COMD) has ended.

At a closing ceremony at the 6th Infantry Battalion, Kamina Barracks, Tamale on Friday 2 June, 2023, N/COMD’s Command Operations Officer (COO) – Colonel (Col) Franklyn Worlanyo Agbebo representing the General Officer Commanding, N/COMD – Brigadier General Matthew Essien, said the exercise was aimed at enhancing capacity of troops to mitigate the threats of violent extremism (VE).
He stated that the topics treated were carefully selected to address the prevailing threats faced by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), and furthered that, there had been an improvement in the course since it’s inception.

The 4-week long course, which had Certificates awarded to all participants, covered topics such as Small Unit Tactics, Weapon Training, Fighting in Built-Up Areas (FIBUA), First Aid, Advanced Marksmanship, with participants drawn from units under N/COMD and the Ghana Air Force Base, Tamale.
The leader of the 2SFAB team – Captain (Capt) J Cejka thanked staff of the Headquarters, N/COMD for their support throughout the course, and described the training as rewarding, noting that the participants were committed, dedicated and disciplined. He thus, urged them to take the knowledge they had acquired back to their units and incorporate them into their training.
