As part of its duty to provide security and build confidence in the local populace and Area of Responsibility, Operation Vanguard has challenged Sikapa FM and Pemsan Television, in a curtain raiser football match, at the Len Clay Sports Stadium.
The competition organized by Sikapa FM on Friday, 17 November 2019, was aimed at discovering hidden football talents and eradicating social vices in Obuasi and its environ.
In an interview, the Head of Sports, Sikapa FM – Nana Frimpong, noted that Obuasi has lots of talent, which when harnessed, would help save the employed youth, from all forms of social vices.
“when you come to Obuasi, there are a lot of players here, but they find it arduous to get teams to play, so we decided to organize this tournament, so we can also help them to get those clubs like Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Accra Hearts of Oak, Obuasi Ashanti Gold, to play and others, and if possible, some of them would be pursuing their career outside Ghana,” he added.
The friendly match, which was the opener for major tournaments, ended with one goal against Team Vanguard.[vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”2402,2401,2399,2398,2400″]
