WINNER OF UN MILITARY GENDER ADVOCATE 2024 PRESENTS AWARD TO CDS GAF

Deputy Chief Dietitian at the 37 Military Hospital, Dietetics Department and winner of the 2024 United Nations Military Gender Advocate Award – Squadron Leader (Sqdn Ldr) Sharon Mwinsote Syme, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Lieutenant General William Agyapong.

The purpose of the visit on Friday 27 June 2025, at the General Headquarters (GHQ), Burma Camp, was to present her award to the CDS and to thank high command for their support and encouragement in achieving this success.

The Chief of Staff (COS), GHQ – Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Joshua Mensah-Larkai, on behalf of the CDS, welcomed Sqdn Ldr Syme, and congratulated her for the hard work, discipline, and professionalism displayed, during her mission with the United Nations Interim Security Force For Abyei (UNISFA), where she served as the Gender Policy Advisor to the Force Commander.

He reiterated that, the award is a recognition of Sqdn Ldr Syme’s exceptional commitment to promoting gender equality, and empowering women and girls, during her tour of duty with UNISFA.
